The Redmi 15 5G is the latest addition to the company’s budget-oriented number family. It is expected to go on sale in India on August 28. Pricing is set at INR 14,999 for the 6+128GB version, INR 15,999 for the 8+128GB version, and INR 16,999 for the 8+256GB version. The new development here is that Xiaomi is launching the Redmi 15 5G as the Redmi 15R in China. Since we are looking at a straight rebrand, the specs are the same. You are looking at a 6.9-inch, FHD+ LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate and display bezels on the bigger side of things. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset and will come with the company’s HyperOS 2 installed. Xiaomi promises two years of OS updates and four years of security updates.

Xiaomi put a large 7,000 mAh battery on board with 33W charging (and a charger in the box in most regions), plus 18W reverse wired charging capabilities. Xiaomi claims this is the only silicon-carbon battery in the segment and that it retains 80% of its life even after 4+ years of use.

Other features include a 50MP camera at the back, IP64 ingress protection, and Dolby-certified audio. We will have more for you on the feature and specs front in the full review.

In the meantime, here is the pricing for the Chinese Redmi 15R: 8GB/256GB for CNY 1,499 (~$210), 12GB/256GB for CNY 1,899 (~$265), and 12GB/512GB for CNY 2,199 (~$305). Pretty affordable overall.
