Xiaomi is ready with HyperOS 2 and it’s shifting its focus on HyperOS 3, ends support for 9 phones

A user on Xiaomi’s Feedback app received interesting information regarding Xiaomi’s plans regarding HyperOS. Turns out, the company has officially ended the development of HyperOS 2 and is redirecting all of its resources to HyperOS 3.

Xiaomi is ready with HyperOS 2 and it's shifting its focus on HyperOS 3, ends support for 9 phones

It looks like Xiaomi is done with HyperOS 2 as all phones entitled to the OS update received it, so it’s time to focus solely on bringing HyperOS 3, based on Android 16, on time. Additionally, a member from the developer team clarified that users should not expect any more HyperOS 2 improvement updates.

Instead, the company will focus on addressing all known issues with HyperOS 3. Key improvements include enhanced animation smoothness and visual effects, improved system responsiveness, a refined UI, and an optimized user experience. To be fair, some of those sound vague.

Notably, Xiaomi may name its upcoming OS HyperOS 26, in line with the release year.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi hasn’t announced a release timeline, so we don’t know which phones will get the update first.

On a semi-related note, nine Xiaomi devices are receiving their last updates this year. It’s the end of the road for the Redmi A1, A1+, Poco C50, Xiaomi 11T and 11T Pro, Mi 11 Lite 5G NE, Mi 11 LE, Poco M5, and Redmi 11 Prime 4G. All these devices will get their last security patch this September.
