If you’ve been wondering whether the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition (or Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica) is headed to international markets, we have some good news for you. The answer is yes, and this was recently confirmed by its certification in Thailand by NBTC. That has revealed that it’s going to be offered under a different name though: it will be called Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi.
That’s a mouthful but it kind of makes sense – there have been three previous Leitz Phones so far, all exclusive to Japan, and so Leica seems to have given up on that line and replaced it with its own-branded version of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. In case you’re confused about the naming, Ernst Leitz was the founder of Leica, and the company’s name itself is a portmanteau of his last name and the word “camera”.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica
The Leica Leitzphone by Xiaomi has the model number 25128PNA1G as revealed by the aforementioned certification, and a prototype with this model number has now been spotted in the Geekbench AI database. This confirms that it’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC just like its Chinese counterpart, and will have 16GB of RAM. It will unsurprisingly run Android 16 from day one, undoubtedly with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 3 on top.
The Leica Edition Xiaomi 17 Ultra is more expensive than the normal Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China, and thus we assume it will be the same in other markets. For what it’s worth, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s price has recently been leaked. It’s rumored to become official for global markets on February 28.
