A few days ago, Honor unveiled the Magic8 and Magic8 Pro and earlier this week the pair of them went on sale in China. We have confirmation from Honor itself that the Magic8 series will also be available globally, though we don’t have the concrete details just yet. Would you buy the Magic8 or Magic8 Pro?
The two new models boast the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 – another shared upgrade is the new AI button. The 2025 models also have significantly larger batteries than their predecessors, even though both phones are smaller than their Magic7-series counterparts.

Honor Magic8 and Magic8 Pro
Let’s look at the Honor Magic8 Pro first. It features a 6.71” OLED display, down from 6.8” on last year’s model. However, the battery is a whopping 7,200mAh for the Chinese unit and 6,270mAh for the European one (vs. 5,850mAh and 5,270mAh last year).
The main camera still features a 50MP 1/1.3” sensor, but the f/1.4-2.0 aperture has been replaced by a fixed f/1.6 aperture. On the plus side, the 200MP 1/1.4” sensor in the telephoto camera is now paired with a longer 3.7x lens, up from 3x.

Honor Magic8 Pro
The Honor Magic8 is in a similar situation – it has a smaller 6.58” OLED display, down from 6.78”, while packing a larger 7,000mAh battery.
The camera has seen a downgrade as the 50MP main now has a smaller 1/1.56” sensor, while the Magic7 matched its Pro sibling at 1/1.3”. The telephoto module was swapped as well, with a 64MP sensor instead of 50MP, but it remains at the same 3x magnification.
