The OnePlus 15 just became official today in China, and it’s expected to reach international markets next month. Ahead of that, we were lucky enough to have the opportunity to shoot some camera samples with the OnePlus 15 around Prague in Czechia. So here they are.
The OnePlus 15 gave up on the Hasselblad co-branding of its predecessors in favor of the company’s own self-developed DetailMax Engine, billed as its new era of computational imaging that focuses on delivering “clear and real” images (these are OnePlus’ words). So we put that to the test, let’s start with images from the main camera during the day.

We’ll refrain from judging these, expect our full thoughts in our comprehensive review of the OnePlus 15, which is coming soon. Next up we have 2x zoom samples.

The viewfinder also offers 3.5x magnification, so naturally we tested this too.

But there’s also a 7x option in the viewfinder, so we couldn’t help but see what such images would look like.

The zoom slider actually goes all the way up to 120x, and we also captured a few shots using this insane magnification level (that is most likely AI-enhanced, by the way).

Now let’s turn our attention to the ultrawide camera, here’s its output.

We also took some night shots at all of the aforementioned magnification levels. Note that all of these are in Auto mode, there was no dedicated Night Mode used (but most shots did employ some form of automatic Night Mode). Starting with the main camera:

Then jumping to 2x zoom.

And here are some 3.5x zoom shots at night.

Of course we also tested how 7x zoom images would look during the night.

And the ultrawide too.

Finally, we took a selfie during the day and two at night (the first one is with no flash, the second one employs the screen flash, the difference is quite obvious).

In conclusion, we’ll say that OnePlus’ decision to end its partnership with Hasselblad is definitely an interesting one, and it remains to be seen how people will react to it. The DetailMax Engine promises to keep Hasselblad’s “refined aesthetic sense” as part of its DNA, “woven into every future OnePlus camera”, the company says.
We’ll be able to tell you what we think about all of this once we’ve captured our usual review shots, so stay tuned for our full review of the OnePlus 15.
