vivo Y500i debuts with a 7,200mAh battery

vivo has announced a new Y500 series phone in China with a big battery and a new design. The vivo Y500i joins the Y500 and Y500 Pro, which were unveiled last year in the country.

The vivo Y500i comes with a 7,200mAh lithium-ion battery and supports 44W fast charging. It is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage.

On the front, the phone sports a 6.75-inch LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and HD+ resolution. The panel offers 1,200 nits peak brightness and gets a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera.

Talking about cameras, the Y500i gets a single 50MP sensor at the back with autofocus and an f/1.8 aperture. For selfies, there’s a 5MP front facing unit.

Other specs of the phone include an IP68/69 rating, SGS Gold Label 5-star certification for durability, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an infrared sensor.

The vivo Y500i is 8.49mm thick and weighs 219 grams. It is currently available for purchase in China in Galaxy Silver, Phoenix Gold, and Obsidian Black color options.

The phone is priced at CNY 1,499 ($215) for the base 8GB/128GB option. The 8GB/256GB model gets a price tag of CNY 1,799 ($255), and the 8GB/512GB variant retails at CNY 1,999 ($285). Meanwhile, the 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants are priced at CNY 1,999 ($285) and CNY 2,199 ($315), respectively.
