Spotify announced that it is now beta testing AI audiobook recaps for iOS users. The feature aims to summarize the audiobooks until the past point where users left off, so they can quickly resume their listening sessions.
Recaps are currently limited to a small selection of English-language audiobooks, but Spotify confirmed that it plans to expand it to more titles soon. The Recap button will be placed right above the chapters section and will be visible only if you’ve listened to a title for at least 15 minutes.
Recaps only cover the portion of the book you’ve already heard. Much like a “previously on” feature for TV, Recaps help you easily re-engage with a story without needing to relisten. Designed to reduce friction and keep you immersed, Recaps are part of our ongoing effort to make audiobook listening more seamless, intuitive, and listener-friendly.
In addition, Spotify also announced updated shuffle controls for Premium users. The Fewer Repeats feature will make sure that recently played songs are less likely to repeat. The feature is accessible in the Settings tab of the Spotify app under the Playback menu.
