According to a report by DealSite, Samsung will be incorporating new display technology into its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 foldable this summer. This will allow it to decrease the visible crease by around 20%, although we are not sure how one can measure crease visibility reliably enough.

The company will reportedly use UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) not only for the display’s top layer, but also for the bottom end. Additionally, Samsung will apply a laser-drilled metal support plate to reinforce the foldable structure, which will help with the crease even further. This approach differs from the rumored iPhone Fold that is tipped to use a glass substrate instead, but still source its foldable screen from Samsung.
Interestingly, Samsung has already showcased a foldable display without a crease during CES 2026, but we can’t say for sure that the same exact display will be used for the Z Fold8.
