Last month, Samsung teased that it will add “a new layer of privacy” to the Galaxy S26 Ultra with the new privacy screen feature. Now the company has shared a short video demonstrating how it works – it can make the whole screen or specific parts of it appear black when viewed from the side, without affecting legibility for you.
Here’s the video. In this case the whole screen gets blacked out for any unwanted onlookers when the Zero-peeking privacy toggle is enabled. What’s interesting is that the phone has per-pixel control over this feature and can only black out notifications with sensitive info.
You will be able to choose how this is controlled – you will be able to toggle it on or off manually or let the phone toggle it automatically, for example, when you go outside.
This feature is apparently so cool that Apple wants it too – Ice Universe says that it will be featured on MacBooks in 2029.
Some laptops have a basic version of this, e.g. HP calls it Sure View while Lenovo calls it PrivacyGuard. However, they can only enable it for the whole screen and not just parts of it like the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be able to.
