The initial build will focus on “delivering Android 16’s native features as well as implementing a more robust design system which will set the foundation for a more cohesive UI moving forward”, Nothing says in its announcement.
Since this is an early beta build, do keep in mind that bugs are inevitable, issues will occur, and things might break. If that’s not a problem for you, then you can sign up to be part of the closed beta stage at this link. Note that you have to enroll by the end of this week (specifically, 5 PM London time on Sunday). If you are chosen to participate, you’ll receive detailed instructions via email, which will arrive next week.
Nothing says you should only apply if you use your Phone (3) daily, are willing to give regular feedback to its team, will maintain “high standards of information security”, and understand all the risks associated with using beta software.
Nothing plans to release the first public beta of Nothing OS 4.0 based on Android 16 for the Phone (3) in September. If you’re interested in learning more about the company’s first flagship smartphone, don’t miss our in-depth written review, or take a look at our video review above.
