Motorola launched the G15 entry-level 4G-only smartphone in December of 2024 and then finally released it last February, so you wouldn’t be wrong for thinking it’s now high time for a successor to show up. And Motorola appears to be thinking the same way, as it’s working on the G17.

An FAQ page for the G17, regarding inserting or removing a SIM card, is already live on Motorola’s US support site, confirming the phone’s development and also the fact that it supports microSD cards up to 1TB in size. This page also tells us that there will be a Moto G17 Power coming to complement the G17, similarly to the G15 and G15 Power being launched alongside each other.

At the same time, some retailer listings from Italy reveal that the G17 will be offered in Alaskan Blue and Evening Blue colorways, and one version will come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The handset is only shown as “out of stock” currently with no indication of when it might actually launch, but we’d wager we only have at most a few more weeks to wait for this one, given its predecessor’s release time frame.
