Some flagships launched in 2025 were considerably more expensive than their predecessors, and the story won’t be different with the phones launching this year, either, due to rising component costs, among other factors. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 series was also expected to get a price hike, but if the latest rumor coming out of South Korea is to be believed, that won’t be the case.

A South Korean publication reports that Samsung has decided to launch the Galaxy S26 series at the same price as the Galaxy S25 lineup to avoid losing market share to Apple and other Chinese smartphone companies.

However, this price freeze applies only to the US; prices in other markets, including Samsung’s home country, South Korea, could be higher.

The base models of the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra were launched in the US at $799, $999, and $1,299, respectively. The base versions of the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra are expected to cost the same.

That said, it’s not just the Galaxy S26 lineup that’s getting a price freeze; the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 will also be priced the same as their predecessors.

While Samsung has decided to freeze the pricing of its premium smartphones this year, some Galaxy A Series models will launch with price hikes.

There’s no word from Samsung about the launch of the Galaxy S26 series and the foldables, but South Korean media reports that the S26 lineup will be unveiled on February 25 in San Francisco, US, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8 will go official in July.
