The first foldable from Apple, tentatively called the iPhone Fold, is rumored to launch later this year alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. A new leak now sheds light on its construction and the materials Apple may be using.
According to the leak, Apple’s foldable iPhone will use a hinge crafted from a material known as liquid metal. The rumor also suggests Apple has been experimenting with this material for more than 15 years.

The use of liquid metal is expected to improve hinge durability and minimize stress at the folding point.
Meanwhile, the iPhone Fold’s main body will reportedly use a new titanium material that offers greater strength and a lighter overall weight than the titanium used in recent iPhone models.
The foldable iPhone is rumored to have unusual dimensions with an inner 7.76-inch panel and a 5.49-inch cover display. It is said to come with dual rear cameras and could be available for purchase in early 2027.
