The iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max became available today, and we already have the first video teardown of one of them, mere hours later.
We’re talking about the iPhone 17 Pro, and if you’ve ever been curious to see its insides, then this is the video for you. Take a look:
The video goes through the usual disassembly process, telling you how best to do it without risking any damage, should you ever want to self-repair your iPhone. Interestingly, the screen is removed first, and then it goes from there, removing a shield plate which has the battery attached to its back.
The motherboard has a lot of connectors attached to it, so removal has to be done with care. The module holding all the rear cameras is noticeably larger in this phone compared to its predecessor. The front camera array has larger sensors too. The motherboard itself is smaller, with more tightly packed components.
Overall, Apple has used more screws inside the iPhone 17 Pro compared to past iPhones, favoring them over glue, which makes repairs easier in general. The battery has an easy removal system too.
