Huawei unveiled its Mate 80 series alongside the Mate X7 foldable today in China, but those weren’t the only new devices at the event. The brand introduced its MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet, which runs HarmonyOS 5 (aka HarmonyOS Next 5) with full desktop app support as well as an Extraordinary Master Edition of its MateBook Fold.

MatePad Edge is Huawei’s take on the Microsoft Surface tablet – a tablet that aims to replace your laptop. The device is built around a 14.2-inch OLED screen and a sleek unibody aluminum chassis. It measures just 6.85 mm thick and weighs 789 grams. You get a built-in 175-degree adjustable hinge, which allows you to prop the device at all sorts of angles.

MatePad Edge is equipped with either a Kirin X90 or Kirin X90A chipset and is configurable with 16-32GB RAM and 256GB-2TB storage. Huawei claims you can expect up to Apple M5 performance from its latest chipset, with a 3.8x improvement over the previous-gen Kirin T92 SoC. MatePad Edge comes with optional liquid cooling and dual vapor chambers to keep thermals in check.

MatePad Edge features a 14.2-inch OLED touchscreen with 3,120 × 2,080 px resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel features a 3:2 aspect ratio and is rated at up to 1,000 nits peak brightness. It also features stylus support via the Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus, a six-speaker setup and four microphones.

There’s an optional keyboard accessory that features a chicklet-style keyboard with 1.8mm key travel and a pressure-sensitive touchpad. The back houses a 50MP main cam with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8MP ultrawide lens. You also get a 32MP selfie cam.

The slate is equipped with a 12,900 mAh battery that supports 140W charging. I/O is limited to a single USB 3.1 Gen 1 port.
MatePad Edge comes in Space Gray and Bright Moon Silver colors. The baseline 16/256GB trim starts at CNY 5,999 ($844) while the range-topping 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD version comes in at CNY 12,999 ($1,830).
The MateBook Fold Extraordinary Master Edition comes in black and red colors and features 32GB RAM and a 2TB SSD. It retains the key specs from the standard model and retails for CNY 26,999 ($3,800).
