Huawei’s Mate 80 lineup has gone official in China. Alongside the Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro, the series also includes the Mate 80 Pro Max and the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design. Both phones offer dual telephoto cameras and 6,000mAh batteries.
Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max

The Mate 80 Pro Max is similar in design to the Mate 80 Pro, but it comes with a larger display, a better chipset, a quad-rear camera setup, and a bigger battery. The phone has a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and up to 8,000-nit peak brightness.
It is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro SoC, which is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The phone runs HarmonyOS 6, which gets several UI changes and AI features.

At the back, the Pro Max features a quad camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor with variable aperture and OIS, a 40MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP macro telephoto camera with f/2.1 and OIS, and another 50MP periscope telephoto with OIS and 6.2x optical zoom. All of this is complemented by Huawei’s 2nd gen Red Maple imaging chipset.
For selfies, the phone offers a 13MP camera and also offers 3D depth sensing tech.

The Huawei Mate 80 Pro Max packs a 6,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless charging.
Other specs include IP68 + IP69 rating, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, satellite communication support, NFC, USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port, stereo speakers, and an infrared sensor.

The phone is available in Aurora Blue, Polar Day Gold, Polar Region Silver, and Polar Night Black colors. It measures 8.25mm thick and weighs 239g.
Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design

The Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design, as the name suggests, offers a unique design with a redesigned rear camera module and rear panel. However, specs wise, it shares a lot with the Pro Max.
For example, the phone offers the same chipset, display, cameras, battery, and other specs as the Pro Max model. The only spec difference is that the phone comes with 20GB of RAM as standard.

It features a titanium mid-frame and a 3rd gen basalt tempered Kunlun glass on the display. The phone is still 8.25mm thick, but weighs 249g.
The Ultimate Design is available in Hibiscus Purple, Jet Black, and Pure White colors.

The Mate 80 Pro Max starts at CNY 7,999 ($1,125) for the 16GB/512GB option, whereas the 16GB/1TB variant will set you back CNY 8,999 ($1,265).
On the other hand, the Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design is priced at CNY 11,999 ($1,690) for the 20GB/512GB option, and CNY 12,999 ($1,830) for the 20GB/1TB model.
