Today, Huawei brought its MatePad Pro 12.2 (2025) to the Chinese market, and unveiled the new M-Pencil Pro stylus alongside it. This is the company’s most advanced stylus to date.
It comes with support for 16,384 pressure levels, a minimalistic design, and a smart key that you can use to access Huawei’s Celia assistant, which can help you launch apps, manage your schedule, or give any other commands with just one click.
If you double-tap the button near any input field, voice-to-text transcription will instantly be triggered for quick and easy text entry. The M-Pencil Pro’s rotating brush movement mirrors the way real brushes behave, offering a more natural feel when sketching and coloring.

The stylus comes with three interchangeable tips, one for painting, one for standard writing, and one for micro-writing, each catering to a different task. On Huawei devices, in apps like Go Paint and Huawei Notes, if you pinch the stylus’ body you can toggle pen shapes, palettes, or tools, and double-clicking switches between writing and erasing. A light pinch outside of any app brings up the global wave wheel for instant access to shorthand, annotation, and more.
The stylus has tactile feedback from its built-in motor, and with the NearLink feature it can be located from as much as 50m away, even across different floors. You do need to be using another Huawei device for this to work, however.
The Huawei M-Pencil Pro is now available to pre-order from Huawei’s online store for CNY 699, which translates into approximately $97 or €82. It will be released on August 8. Availability outside of China isn’t a given.
