Huawei’s Pura X launched last year and shocked the mobile world with its 16:10 aspect ratio (when unfolded). It went in an entirely different direction than any of its competitors, and it seems to have been quite a success. Huawei is now working on the Pura X2, but also another device that will emulate the Pura X’s unorthodox (for this day and age) aspect ratio.
According to a new rumor from the prolific Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Huawei is developing a candybar style, non-folding smartphone that will have a screen with a 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio. So basically, like a Pura X that doesn’t fold.

Huawei Pura X
The display for this device is allegedly already in development, and the smartphone itself is currently scheduled to launch between October and December this year. Huawei apparently expects this handset to sell very well in China, and it’s undoubtedly basing that prediction on the Pura X’s performance.
This sounds very intriguing, to say the least, and we can’t wait to hear more about this smartphone. Stay tuned.
