Here’s our first look at the upcoming iQOO 15R

iQOO recently hosted the third edition of Prive Night in India for YouTubers, influencers, and tech media, showcasing the iQOO 15R, which is set to launch on February 24. We were invited to this event and got an early look at the iQOO 15R.

The iQOO 15R is the first ‘R’ model in iQOO’s number lineup in India, and it’s primarily aimed at young professionals looking for a smartphone that’s compact but also packs a powerful chipset and a big battery under the hood. More on that in a bit.

The iQOO 15R comes in two colors – one is black, and the other is silver with a checkered design. The black version is called Dark Knight, while the silver model is called Triumph Silver.

The Dark Knight model, which looks grey-ish in some lighting conditions, has a stealthy look and is better suited for those who want something for a formal occasion. The Triumph Silver version, on the other hand, is good for those wanting something with a casual look. That checkered design looks cool, but it’s only properly visible when light reflects at right angles.

The iQOO 15R’s camera island design is similar to the iQOO 15, and it houses two cameras, with the primary camera using a 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor and having OIS. On the front is a punch-hole display, whose diagonal is yet to be revealed by iQOO.

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC and a 7,600 mAh battery with 100W charging. The smartphone also supports bypass charging.

We like the overall design of the iQOO 15R. It is more comfortable to use with one hand than the bigger iQOO 15. The build is nice, too, and the Triumph Silver colorway is our favorite.

iQOO hasn’t detailed the specs sheet of the iQOO 15R yet. However, the brand previously confirmed that the smartphone would come with the Q2 Supercomputing Chip, a 6.5K IceCore VC Cooling System, and support for 144 FPS gaming in BGMI through frame interpolation technology.

The iQOO 15R will run OriginOS 6 and receive OS updates for four years and security updates for six years. Its base model will be priced under INR50,000.
