AT&T just announced a smartphone designed specifically for kids aged 12 and under. The AT&T amiGO Jr. Phone was created in collaboration with Samsung – it is essentially a custom version of the Galaxy A17 (5G).
The most important addition is the amiGO app, which gives parents remote control and an overview of the kid’s phone. The app works on both Android and iOS devices.

With the app, you can see the kid’s real-time location. You can set up Safe Zones to get an instant notification in case Junior goes off on an unplanned adventure. The app also shows a step counter and the phone’s battery state, so you can remind your kid to charge their phone before they leave for school.
Additionally, the app gives you control over screen time and app usage. This includes a School Mode and schedules that automatically set certain restrictions at select times.

Parental control features on the AT&T amiGO Jr. Phone
If you don’t want to give your kid a smartphone, even one as locked down as the amiGO Jr. Phone, you can pick the AT&T amiGO Jr. Watch 2 instead. This is more limited in functionality while still offering location monitoring and the ability to call and text with 30 pre-approved contacts.

Either way, you can get the phone or watch on an $3-a-month installment plan (plus taxes and fees). The full retail price for the AT&T amiGO Jr. Phone is $210, while the amiGO Jr. Watch 2 is $170.
You can find the amiGO Jr. Phone on AT&T. Here’s a link for the amiGO Jr. Watch 2 as well.
