We had the chance to handle the vivo X300 Pro at the launch of the X300 series in China, but the phone is now at the office and in for a proper review.

We can also put it side by side with its predecessor, which reveals a few differences. Most notably, the new phone is smaller in all dimensions.

A key difference is in the displays. The X300 Pro has a flat-edged screen, whereas the X200 Pro has a slight curve to its display. The vivo faithfuls here at HQ are unsure whether they like their old, slightly curved screen or the new flat one better.

The flat display

What we all agree on, however, is that the new OriginOS 6, which succeeds Funtouch OS as vivo’s global OS, is neat! The new visuals are fresh, and it truly feels like the nicer-to-look-at OriginOS than the sort of flat Funtouch.

The camera system on the vivo X300 Pro is more of a tweaked version of the one in its predecessor, we’re still keen to test and see whether the images themselves are better. The biggest story is the new selfie camera, which should be the same unit we love on the X200 Ultra!

We’re also eager to see whether the added 510mAh of battery capacity makes a huge difference in battery endurance.

The hero color of the X300 Pro is seemingly this Brown. It’s a unique shade on the market, and we like it. The phone comes with a color-matching case in typical vivo fashion, and you get a meaty USB-C cable, but nothing else.
