Huawei introduced the FreeClip 2 last month, and they come in as the follow-up to the original FreeClip from 2023.

We got our shiny review unit in, and these are some early impressions from Huawei’s latest open wireless stereo (OWS) earbuds.
The FreeClip 2 and its charging case are noticeably more compact than their predecessor. The earbuds come in at 25.4 mm (height) × 26.7 mm (width) × 18.8 mm (depth) with each earbud weighing just 5.1 grams. The “Comfort Bean”, which is the part that sits behind your ear, is also 11% smaller.

The case is 17% narrower and 14% lighter at just under 39 grams, which allows it to fit in smaller pockets than the OG FreeClip. But the new model also comes with an all-new design that features a micro moulding plastic material and in our case a stain-resistant denim-texture surface on the case.

The buds themselves get the same C-bridge design, though the actual connection wire is also made of the micro moulding texture plastic with the same texture as the charging case. The actual earpiece that sits on top of your ear canal gets the glossy treatment just like the bean that goes behind your ear helix.
Huawei claims the FreeClip 2 offer 100% stronger volume and air displacement compared to their predecessors. That’s powered by 10.8 mm dual-diaphragm drivers alongside Huawei’s third-generation audio chip and a dedicated NPU AI processor, which allows for adaptive volume and voice enhancements. There are also 6 microphones spread across the buds with dedicated call noise cancellation.

The maker is also confident these buds can offer up to 9 hours of playtime and a total of 38 hours of total battery life, which we’ll make sure to test in our full review.
