Sub-10” gaming tablets are a growing trend – more portable than a typical slate, while still offering flagship performance. The REDMAGIC Astra (known as the REDMAGIC Tablet 3 Pro in some regions) is just such a tablet and it has the same silicon as the REDMAGIC 10S Pro and a similar cooling system to boot.
Here’s how you can be the first in line to get one, while also scoring a discount and some freebies. It’s pretty simple – you need an Early Bird voucher. But first, let’s meet the Astra.

The tablet has a 9.06” OLED display – a 16:10 panel with 2,400 x 1,504px resolution. It runs at up to 165Hz and has 240Hz touch sampling rate. There is a thin, symmetrical 4.9mm bezel around the display. With the high refresh rate, this display is built for gaming, but it also offers an immersive experience for watching videos. It has studio-level color calibration (deltaE of around 0.7) and support for the DCI-P3 color space. Being an OLED, it also has great contrast. Plus, it has been certified for Blue Light Eye Protection by SGS.

The Astra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite plus the RedCore R3 Pro, which is responsible for image and frame rate interpolation among other things. The tablet is equipped with fast LPDDR5T RAM (up to 24GB) and UFS 4.1 Pro storage (up to 1TB).
The enhanced ICE-X cooling system features liquid metal – it’s called that because it starts softening at 50°C and carries much more heat than thermal paste. The metal is over the Snapdragon and the battery charging chips. Keeping things cool during charging improves efficiency by 13%. REDMAGIC also employed the industry’s first dual layer vapor chamber. And, as we’ve come to expect from the brand, there is a 17 x 17mm shark-fin cooling fan that can spin up to 20,000 RPM (and it has the requisite RGB lighting per gaming machine tradition).

Speaking of charging, the 8,200mAh battery needs 71 minutes for a full charge. Bypass charging is an option to further reduce heat and prolong the battery’s life. This capacity is enough to last over 5 hours of playing Honkai: Star Rail or Arena of Valor. Or if you just want to veg out and binge your favorite shows, the tablet will last up to 33 hours of continuous video playback.

The REDMAGIC Astra is designed for gaming and multimedia. Besides the performant chip, it has a screen that can reach 1,600 nits full-screen brightness and stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra, plus dual x-axis linear motors for gaming feedback.
The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port supports video out, so you can use a large external monitor with options including 2K @ 240Hz, 4K @ 144Hz and even 8K at 60Hz. You can also hook up external storage and other accessories as the port offers up to 10Gbps bandwidth.

So, yes, you can use the Astra for work too – but if gaming is more your speed, here’s what this tablet can do. It already has support for high refresh rate gaming in some titles with more on the way later this month:

The Game Center launcher offers a performance monitor as well as control over games. For example, the RedCore R3 Pro chip can upscale Genshin Impact from 60fps to 120fps by going into the Picture Quality settings and picking High Frame Rate.
Some mobile games are locked to portrait mode – you can force them into landscape using Game Space plug-ins. Additionally, you can pick different aspect ratios, including full-screen, 4:3 and 16:9. The latter is great if you want to cast gameplay to an external display. There are more plug-ins – from custom crosshairs to sound equalization. There is even a multi-screen gameplay mode.
Alright, here’s the deal. The REDMAGIC Astra will be available globally starting on July 16 – but you can get it a day early if you buy an Early Bird voucher.
The voucher costs just $1 and comes with a $30 discount when it comes time to buy the tablet on July 15 (a day before people without a voucher). Additionally, you get a free 80W charger and gaming finger sleeves with the voucher.
