Google is working on a new Gemini model that will use your search history for better personalization. This has been revealed today through a teardown of the latest beta of the Google app.
As the screenshots below show, this will be called “Gemini with Personal context” or just simply “Personalization” in the model selector up top.
Gemini Personalization model
It appears to be opt-in, at least initially, and if you do go for it, it promises to offer “personalized help based on your Google Search history”. Google stresses that only this particular model will be connected to your Search history if you allow it.
While using the model you can also just disconnect it from your history as shown in the screenshot on the right. This model seems to offer accurate results based on your search history, at least if you ask it something very obvious like showing you your history or if you ask it about specific things you’ve searched for.

Of course, this will be even more useful if it can incorporate your search history into replies to more general questions, as given its access to your history it should “know” you better and tailor its responses specifically to you. That’s our assumption, at least, but it remains to be seen how Google will position this model once it goes official, which could be happening very soon.
